New Delhi: Nitin Gadkari, Union Minister for Road Transport and Highways inaugurated 18 national highway projects, costing over Rs 10,000 crores in Gorakhpur, Uttar Pradesh on Monday, said the ministry in a statement. He also said that these projects will encourage investment and employment opportunities in Uttar Pradesh and boost industrial development. During the ceremony, Gadkari was accompanied by Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, Union Minister of State for Finance, Pankaj Chaudhary, MPs, MLAs and officials, the statement added.

'Building the bypass will help in establishment of commercial & residential units'

Gadkari said that the four-laning of Sonauli – Gorakhpur will strengthen border security along the international border. "With the construction of the bypass, the Gorakhpur Ring Road will be completed relieving traffic jam in the city. This will also help in establishment of commercial, residential units," he added.

The Minister said that the construction of road from Kushinagar to Lumbini will give a boost to international tourism in Buddhist tourist places. He said, "the connectivity of Bahraich-Shrawasti-Balrampur will be better with the construction of Gilola bypass. Along with this, traffic will be smooth for the tourists who will travel to Devi Patan temple."
