Green hydrogen incentives awarded for 8.62 lakh tonnes of annual capacity: Joshi

New Delhi: Union Minister for New and Renewable Energy Pralhad Joshi on Thursday said incentives have been awarded for 8.62 lakh tonnes per annum of green hydrogen production and 3,000 MW per annum of domestic electrolyser manufacturing capacity.

The incentives have been awarded under the Strategic Interventions for Green Hydrogen Transition (SIGHT) programme, part of the Rs 19,744-crore National Green Hydrogen Mission.

Addressing Horizons Clean Energy Expansion India 2026, organised by S&P Global Energy, Joshi said green hydrogen production capacity of 30 kilotonnes per annum has also been awarded to refineries, according to a statement issued by the organiser.

The minister said these initiatives would help build a domestic market for green hydrogen, reduce dependence on imported fossil fuels and strengthen India’s energy security.

Joshi added that the lowest bid for green ammonia stood at Rs 49.75 per kg, while green hydrogen saw a discovered price of Rs 279 per kg.
