New Delhi: GREW Energy Pvt Limited is set to invest Rs 4,500 crore into setting up a three-stage backward integration solar module manufacturing facility with 3.2 GW capacity in Kathua, Jammu & Kashmir. “On the auspicious day of Akshaya Tritya, GREW is all set to establish the three-stage backward integration manufacturing facility in Kathua, Jammu & Kashmir, boasting an annual capacity of producing 3.2 GW of high-efficiency solar modules and an additional 2.8 GW of ingots, wafers, and cells. With this GREW will have the total manufacturing capacity of 6 GW,” said the company in a post on LinkedIn on Friday.

“This expansion represents our commitments towards achieving energy independence by strengthening renewable infrastructure to make India the Next Renewable Superpower of the world,” it added.

“The forthcoming manufacturing facility, poised to be one of the largest-of-its-kind in the region, will have a robust capacity to produce 3.2 GW of high-efficiency solar modules annually, in addition to 2.8 GW of ingots, wafers, and cells. This comprehensive setup signifies Grew Energy’s commitment to advancing renewable energy technology and infrastructure within the country,” said a statement. The solar module manufacturing facility will be the first of its kind in the Union Territory of Jammu & Kashmir.

“As we embark on this transformative journey, we at Grew are grateful to the Government for the welcome and being so supportive. The new plant will not only add to the socio-economic development of the state but it will also play a pivotal role in meeting India’s net zero target. It will also help in creating employment opportunities for the people of Jammu & Kashmir. With the establishment of our Kathua facility and our existing 2.8GW module manufacturing facility in Jaipur, Rajasthan, Grew will achieve a total of 6GW manufacturing capacity for modules and 2.8GW for solar components by FY25,” said Vinay Thadani, CEO and Director of Grew Energy.

“With the establishment of our Kathua facility and our existing 2.8 GW module manufacturing facility in Jaipur, Rajasthan, Grew will achieve a total of 6 GW manufacturing capacity for modules and 2.8 GW for solar components by FY 2025,” said Thadani.

The Kathua facility, spread over 80 acres, aims to meet the growing solar needs of Jammu & Kashmir, Ladakh, neighboring states, and the country, said the statement.
