Green hydrogen, produced through water electrolysis powered by renewable energy, represents a clean and sustainable fuel source. The four-day training program, which comprises 11 comprehensive sessions, seeks to enhance students' knowledge and expertise in this emerging field. The program is expected to bolster India's capabilities as a major producer and supplier of green hydrogen globally, fostering indigenous manufacturing.

During the inaugural session, Prof. Anju Srivastava, Principal of Hindu College, expressed her enthusiasm for the college's designation as a Training Centre for green hydrogen. She highlighted the course's significance, emphasizing its role in equipping students with the skills necessary for advancing clean fuel technologies and promoting environmental sustainability. The 30-hour course, which includes field visits and provides one academic credit, covers a wide range of topics from the basics of the hydrocarbon sector to the specifics of green hydrogen production and its applications.

Prof. Srivastava noted that the training program is an initiative by the Ministry of Skill Development and Entrepreneurship. It offers participants insights into the hydrocarbon sector, the global and Indian oil and gas scenarios, and the critical energy transition needed to address greenhouse gas emissions and global warming. The course also explores the properties and potential of hydrogen as a green energy carrier, along with the technologies required to achieve net-zero emission targets.
