New Delhi: The highly anticipated 14th Clean Energy Ministerial and 8th Mission Innovation meeting (CEM14/MI-8) is set to take place in Goa from July 19 to July 22, said the Ministry of Power in a statement on Friday. Aligned with the G20 Energy Transitions Ministerial Meeting, the theme for this year's event is "Advancing Clean Energy Together."

The 4-day programme will feature ministerial dialogues, global initiative launches

The gathering will bring together government officials, international organisations, academia, private sector representatives, innovators, civil society, early career researchers, and policymakers from around the world. The four-day programme will feature ministerial dialogues, global initiative launches, award announcements, minister-CEO roundtables, and a diverse range of side events focusing on various aspects of the clean energy transition.

The CEM14/MI-8 meeting aims to accelerate deployment of clean energy technologies

The CEM14/MI-8 meeting aims to accelerate the deployment of clean energy technologies and solutions worldwide. Through high-level roundtables, side events, and technology showcases, stakeholders will have the opportunity to develop policies and programs that promote clean energy development. The event will feature a public-facing technology showcase where cutting-edge advancements in clean energy from India and other countries will be highlighted.

R K Singh & Jitendra Singh jointly launched official website & logo

To mark the occasion, the Union Power and New and Renewable Energy Minister, R K Singh, and the Union Science and Technology Minister, Dr Jitendra Singh, jointly launched the official website and logo for CEM14/MI-8. The website provides comprehensive information about delegate registration, the program overview, details about speakers, participant and member portals, and more.

The unique logo, designed by the central government as the host of CEM14/MI-8, represents the diversity of engagement among participating countries and partners. It showcases renewable resources such as sun, wind, and water while highlighting the variability of renewable energy sources through the crest and trough design. The logo also emphasises the importance of energy efficiency, which is a key aspect of sustainable energy use, the statement added.

Power Minister expressed significance of the Clean Energy Ministerial forum

During the launch event, the Power Minister expressed the significance of the Clean Energy Ministerial forum in convening the global clean energy community and fostering innovation and deployment. He highlighted India's rapid growth in renewable energy capacity, even amidst the challenges posed by the COVID-19 pandemic. The Minister emphasized India's commitment to reducing emission intensity and becoming a global leader in energy transition and climate action.

The Minister emphasised the need for free and open trade in the clean energy sector and called for collective efforts to make the whole world transition to a green economy.

Regarding the Mission Innovation meeting, the Minister emphasised the importance of innovation in various fields to drive the energy transition. He highlighted the need for innovation in areas such as green steel, green fertilisers, green aluminum, and round-the-clock renewable energy. The Minister stressed the importance of collaboration and exploring alternatives to ensure a diversified supply chain and develop strategies for a sustainable future.

Echoing these sentiments, the Science and Technology Minister emphasised the collective responsibility to address climate change challenges and work together for a secure and sustainable future. He stressed that climate change issues cannot be solved by one country, organisation, or individual effort alone.
