The solution was launched during the Global Fintech Fest (GFF) 2026 and is being introduced at IndianOil retail outlets. It allows customers to complete fuel payments through the vehicle interface without using a separate mobile application, card or other payment method.
The initiative leverages NPCI’s UPI Circle framework, “Introduction of IoT Devices and Software on the UPI Ecosystem,” to enable payments through connected vehicles.

Under the new system, customers can complete the payment transaction through their vehicle’s connected dashboard after refuelling, providing a digital alternative to conventional fuel-payment methods.
The solution also integrates Indian Oil’s XTRAREWARDS loyalty programme, allowing eligible customers to earn reward points on fuel transactions without sharing their mobile numbers during the payment process.
The collaboration brings together Indian Oil’s extensive fuel-retail network, the connected vehicle ecosystem of TATA.CARS and NPCI’s digital-payment infrastructure to make the refuelling experience faster, more convenient and secure.
IndianOil said the initiative positions it as India’s first fuel retailer to introduce an in-car payment experience at its retail outlets, marking a step towards the integration of connected mobility and digital payments.
The company said the platform could also provide the foundation for expanding in-vehicle payments, commerce and other digital services in the future.
