New Delhi: Coal India's subsidiary Mahanadi Coalfields Limited (MCL) is commissioning a non-coking coal washery at Lakhanpur Area in the Ib Valley Coalfields, Odisha, said the Maharatna PSU in a tweet on Thursday. Further, the PSU informed that it is the largest washery of Coal India with a capacity of 10 million tonnes per year. Recently, the washery also had a test run, it added.
Highlighting the role of washeries, the tweet said, "Washeries help improve the coal quality by bringing down ash content through beneficiation. Coal India is also augmenting its coking coal washing capacity by introducing new coking coal washeries, renovating the existing ones, and dismantling some of the older ones." Further, CIL added that the company has planned to produce about 13 MTPA-washed coal by FY30.
