
New Delhi: The Ministry of Petroleum and Natural Gas (MoPNG) has showcased a strong commitment to innovation and entrepreneurship at Startup Mahakumbh 2025, held from April 3-5 at Bharat Mandapam, New Delhi. The event witnessed active participation from 32 startups backed by Oil and Gas PSUs, highlighting the sector's growing startup ecosystem.
PSUs such as ONGC, IndianOil, Oil India, HPCL, BPCL, EIL, and GAIL presented the impact of their startup support initiatives. ONGC’s startup fund has grown 450 percent in valuation over five years, while IndianOil’s IndS_UP initiative has funded 42 startups, generating 86 IPs and over 600 jobs. Oil India’s support for deeptech ventures and other PSU-led programs like BPCL’s Ankur, HPCL’s HP Udgam, EIL’s EngSUI, and GAIL’s Pankh demonstrated strong sectoral backing for energy innovation.
The event featured thought leadership from 14 senior PSU executives, with ONGC’s Chairman attending the opening plenary. Sessions focused on research monetization, EV innovation, manufacturing integration, and last-mile mobility solutions. A key highlight was the incubation roundtable “From Lab to Market,” featuring executives from BPCL, ONGC, Oil India, and HPCL.
Startup Mahakumbh 2025, themed ‘Startup India @ 2047: Unfolding the Bharat Story,’ brought together over 3,000 startups and 1,000 investors. Building on the success of India Energy Week 2025 and initiatives like the Avinya and Vasudha challenges, MoPNG continues to drive a technology-driven and sustainable energy future through robust startup engagement.
