New Delhi: NBCC (India) Limited, a Navratna Central Public Sector Enterprise under the Ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs, has been entrusted with a key project to develop and expand the southern campus of Rajiv Gandhi Institute of Petroleum Technology (RGIPT) at the Energy Institute, Bengaluru. The project, valued at approximately Rs 44 crore, marks a significant milestone in enhancing energy-focused higher education infrastructure in South India.
Located at Kambalipura in Hosakote Taluk, the 125-hectare campus lies in close proximity to Bengaluru’s urban core and Kempegowda International Airport. As Project Management Consultant, NBCC will spearhead the comprehensive development of this futuristic campus, which is envisioned as a sustainable, tech-enabled centre of academic excellence.
The infrastructure expansion will encompass a built-up area exceeding 13,500 square metres. Key facilities to be constructed include modern institutional blocks, dignitary guest houses, hostels, faculty residences, and dining and recreational infrastructure. The architectural design will integrate smart systems and energy-efficient technologies, aimed at delivering a climate-conscious and digitally enabled learning environment.
NBCC will undertake complete responsibility across the project lifecycle—from conceptual design and structural planning to vendor management, regulatory approvals, and final commissioning. With a strong focus on health, safety, and environmental compliance, NBCC’s technical expertise and project oversight will ensure timely and high-quality execution.
What distinguishes this project is its deep-rooted commitment to sustainability. The design blueprint incorporates passive architectural elements such as recessed fenestration, central courtyards, and enhanced natural ventilation. Use of climate-responsive materials, thermal insulation, integrated solar energy systems, rainwater harvesting, and expansive green zones are central to the campus’s eco-conscious transformation.
The expanded campus is expected to significantly strengthen RGIPT’s academic capabilities and research environment in the field of energy studies. With India rapidly advancing its clean energy transition, the upgraded facilities will support the institute’s ambition to emerge as a global hub for talent, innovation, and applied research in the energy sector.
This project adds to NBCC’s growing portfolio of institutional developments aligned with sustainable and future-ready infrastructure. By driving forward the expansion of Energy Institute Bengaluru, NBCC continues to translate national priorities into tangible infrastructure outcomes, setting new benchmarks in the process.
