The agreement was formalized in the presence of NHAI Chairman Santosh Kumar Yadav, and Kuruvilla P.C., Associate Vice President & Business Head of HLL Lifecare Limited, along with senior officials from both organisations.
The partnership is set to bolster NHAI's existing Incident Management System, which includes ambulances, route patrol vans, cranes, real-time tracking, and supportive supervision. This initiative aims to improve response times and facilitate seamless referral of accident victims to the nearest health facilities, thereby maximizing the "golden hour" for emergency medical care.
As part of the agreement, HLL Lifecare will operate and manage Trauma Centres and Emergency Stabilization Centers along National Highways to provide timely medical assistance. It will also enhance emergency response by implementing comprehensive geo-tagging and mapping of health facilities and linking them with ambulance services on National Highways. In addition, state-of-the-art ambulance services equipped with Basic Life Support systems will be deployed at select highway locations, integrated with technology for real-time tracking and communication.
HLL Lifecare will also undertake training and orientation programs for Toll Plaza staff on new initiatives and basic life support. Capacity building programs will focus on improving psychological and behavioral skills, soft skills, and stress management for Toll Plaza staff. Additionally, health screening camps will be organized for truckers and highway users, including eye tests, tuberculosis screenings, HIV/AIDS testing, and oral cancer screenings at laybys and Wayside Amenities. To ensure effective implementation and coordination, a dedicated Technical Support Unit will be established to supervise various initiatives in collaboration with NHAI officials.
The MoU is set for a duration of five years, reflecting NHAI’s commitment to enhancing road safety and incident management on National Highways. This collaboration is expected to significantly improve emergency medical response times, ultimately saving lives and reducing the severity of injuries for accident victims.
