NHPC fully commissions 300 MW solar power project in Bikaner, Rajasthan

New Delhi: NHPC Limited, India’s leading hydropower company under the Ministry of Power, has announced the full commissioning of its 300 MW grid-connected solar power project at Karnisar, Bikaner, Rajasthan.

According to NHPC’s filing with the stock exchanges, the company has declared the Commercial Operation Date (COD) of the entire 300 MW capacity with effect from October 16, 2025, following the receipt of the Certificate of Successful Trial Run Completion for the fifth and final phase of 85.72 MW on October 10, 2025.

The full commissioning was completed after receiving approval from the Punjab State Electricity Regulatory Commission (PSERC) on October 16, 2025.

The Bikaner solar project marks a significant step in NHPC’s ongoing diversification into renewable energy and supports India’s broader energy transition goals. The project is part of NHPC’s commitment to expand its renewable energy portfolio beyond hydropower, aligning with the national target of achieving 500 GW of non-fossil fuel-based power capacity by 2030.
