The proposed 3,200 MW power plant, comprising four units of 800 MW each, involves a potential investment of Rs 35,000 crore and is expected to generate employment for approximately 4,000 people, according to the company's press release.

The proposed beach sand mineral processing facility entails a tentative investment of Rs 2,000 crore and is expected to generate employment opportunities for around 500 people.

Under a separate MoU, NLCIL will explore the technical feasibility of coal gasification in Odisha and the production of synthesis gas (Syn-Gas) for potential applications in the fertiliser sector. The initiative also seeks to explore linkages between coal gasification and fertiliser production.

The MoUs were signed in Mumbai on October 22 by I.S. Jasper Rose, Executive Director (Mines and Land), NLCIL, and Aboli Sunil Naravane, IAS, Managing Director, IPICOL.

Odisha Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi, Additional Chief Secretary of the Industries Department Hemant Sharma and NLCIL Chairman-cum-Managing Director Prasanna Kumar Acharya were present on the occasion.
