

New Delhi: State-owned NMDC has reported a 23 percent growth in iron ore production to 27.27 million tonnes during April-September of the ongoing financial year.
The company had produced 22.20 million tonnes of iron ore during the six-month period of FY26, as per an exchange filing.

Cumulative sales remained steady at 22.23 million tonnes during the first half of the 2026-27.
In September alone, production rose by around 8 percent to 4.04 million tonnes from 3.75 million tonnes in the same month in 2025.
However, sales dipped marginally to 3.51 million tonnes from 3.88 million tonnes in September 2025.
Under the Ministry of Steel, Hyderabad-based NMDC is India's largest iron ore mining company, catering to the country's 20 percent requirement for the key raw material needed to produce steel.
The company has taken multiple steps to diversify its offerings as it aims to earn the tag of becoming India's largest mineral mining company.

NMDC will start the commercial production of thermal coal in the October-December period and looks to sell around 1 MT of the dry fuel in FY27.
The company will also start developing a coking coal mine in FY27 to begin production as early as FY28.
