New Delhi: NTPC Limited has announced that Unit-1 (800 MW) of the Patratu Super Thermal Power Project (STPP), Phase-I (3x800 MW), developed by its subsidiary Patratu Vidyut Utpadan Nigam Limited (PVUNL), has been declared commercially operational from 00:00 hrs on November 5, 2025.

With the commissioning of this unit, the total installed and commercial capacity of the NTPC Group has risen to 84,849 MW, reinforcing its position as India’s largest power generator.

The Patratu STPP is being developed in phases and represents a key part of NTPC’s ongoing efforts to expand generation capacity through advanced and efficient thermal technology. PVUNL, a subsidiary of NTPC, is implementing the project with an aim to enhance power availability in Jharkhand and the eastern region of India.
