New Delhi: NTPC Limited on Tuesday announced that its consortium with Maharashtra State Power Generation Company Limited (MAHAGENCO) has successfully completed the acquisition of Sinnar Thermal Power Limited (STPL) on February 24.

The acquisition has been executed under a resolution plan approved by the National Company Law Tribunal (NCLT), as part of the Corporate Insolvency Resolution Process (CIRP) under the Insolvency and Bankruptcy Code, 2016.

Sinnar Thermal Power Limited owns a coal-based thermal power plant with a capacity of 1,350 MW (5x270 MW) located at Sinnar in Nashik, Maharashtra.

Following the completion of the transaction, the total installed capacity of the NTPC Group has increased to 88,132 MW, while its commercial capacity now stands at 87,052 MW.
