The partnership aims to advance commercially viable power projects, attract investment and expand reliable electricity supply for households and businesses across the continent. The agreement brings together NTPC’s technical, engineering and operational capabilities with Africa50’s expertise in project development, financing and investment structuring.

Under the agreement, NTPC will contribute its experience in engineering, project development, construction management and power plant operations to assess project feasibility, develop viable solutions and support identified opportunities through the implementation process.

Africa50, meanwhile, will leverage its continent-wide project pipeline and relationships with governments and regulators to identify priority projects, structure them for investment and support their development throughout their life cycles. Africa50 has 34 African countries among its shareholders.

Commenting on the partnership, Gurdeep Singh, Chairman and Managing Director of NTPC Limited, said the company looks forward to developing commercially viable power projects in mutually agreed African countries.

He said combining NTPC’s technical and operational experience with Africa50’s project development capabilities and relationships across the continent would provide a strong foundation for improving the reliability of electricity supply and promoting regional power trade.

Alain Ebobisse, Group Chief Executive Officer of Africa50, highlighted the importance of reliable and competitively priced electricity to Africa’s industrial and economic transformation.
