New Delhi/Dubai: Govt of Odisha secured eight investment proposals worth Rs 8,417 crore and signed five memoranda of understanding on Thursday, the second day of its investor outreach programme in the UAE, officials said.

The proposed projects could generate employment for 14,310 people if implemented, they said. The MoUs were signed in Dubai in the presence of Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi.

The engagements spanned IT and IT-enabled services, real estate, logistics, agro and food processing, steel and downstream industries, rare earths, chemicals, aluminium and the circular economy.

Majhi held meetings with UAE government representatives, investors, industry leaders and business institutions as Odisha sought to attract investments across manufacturing and services.

Earlier in the day, he met UAE Minister of Economy and Tourism Abdulla Bin Touq Al Marri and invited UAE-based businesses to establish industrial projects in the state.

According to a state government statement, the discussions focused on strengthening economic ties and identifying investment opportunities in Odisha. Majhi highlighted the state’s business environment and industrial infrastructure while pitching opportunities across key sectors.

Al Marri also chairs the Council of International Investments.

Thursday’s announcements followed an MoU signed on Wednesday with IHC and the Adani Group covering 14 proposed projects with an investment outlay of around Rs 2.10 lakh crore, officials said.
