

New Delhi: Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Thursday inaugurated the India AI Impact Summit 2026 at Bharat Mandapam, positioning India as a global hub for artificial intelligence innovation.
Addressing the gathering, the Prime Minister said the summit, with participation from over 100 countries, reflects India’s growing stature in the global AI ecosystem. He highlighted India’s large youth population, strong technology talent pool, and rapid adoption of emerging technologies.
Modi emphasised that artificial intelligence represents a transformational shift comparable to major turning points in human civilisation, underlining the need for responsible and human-centric deployment. He stressed that AI must be inclusive, ethical, and aligned with the vision of “welfare for all, happiness for all”.
The Prime Minister also unveiled India’s M.A.N.A.V. framework for AI, focusing on ethical systems, accountable governance, national data sovereignty, inclusivity, and legitimacy.
Highlighting opportunities in the sector, Modi noted that AI will drive new jobs, innovation, and entrepreneurship, while calling for large-scale skilling and reskilling initiatives. He also advocated for open collaboration, global standards, and safeguards against risks such as deepfakes.
The summit brings together global leaders, including Emmanuel Macron and representatives from the United Nations, along with over 500 AI experts, industry leaders, and policymakers.
The event aims to promote inclusive and responsible AI development, with a focus on economic growth, social empowerment, and technological innovation.
