New Delhi/Kurnool: Prime Minister Narendra Modi laid the foundation stone for Power Grid Corporation of India Limited’s (PGCIL) transmission system strengthening project at Kurnool-III Pooling Station in Andhra Pradesh. The project aims to facilitate the integration of additional renewable energy (RE) generation projects, supporting India’s transition toward a greener power grid.
The ceremony has been attended by the Governor of Andhra Pradesh S Abdul Nazeer; the Chief Minister of Andhra Pradesh N Chandrababu Naidu; and Deputy Chief Minister of Andhra Pradesh Konidala Pawan Kalyan along with other dignitaries.
Valued at Rs 2,886 crore, the project involves the construction of a 765 kV double-circuit Kurnool-III Pooling Station–Chilakaluripeta transmission line. It is expected to enhance transformation capacity by 6,000 MVA, enabling large-scale evacuation of renewable energy from upcoming solar and wind projects in the region.
This ambitious initiative by Power Grid, a Maharatna CPSU under the Ministry of Power, will significantly strengthen the national transmission network, promote efficient renewable energy integration, and contribute to India’s sustainable growth trajectory.
