A major part of this investment, led by Bharat Petroleum Corporation Ltd., involves the development of a City Gas Distribution (CGD) network across five districts in Bihar—Darbhanga, Madhubani, Supaul, Sitamarhi, and Sheohar—worth Rs. 3,638 crore. The project will enhance the availability of piped natural gas (PNG) to households and industries, marking a significant move toward the government’s net-zero emissions goal. Key components include new CNG stations and a dedicated carbon steel pipeline network that will channel natural gas from Begusarai to neighboring districts.

In addition, a Bitumen Manufacturing Unit will be constructed at the Barauni Refinery by Indian Oil at a cost of Rs. 389 crore. This unit aims to reduce reliance on imported bitumen, thereby supporting India’s infrastructure demands and saving an estimated $1.1 million in foreign exchange.

These projects, by promoting cleaner energy and contributing to the nation’s infrastructure needs, are expected to drive industrial growth and economic progress in Bihar, aligning with India's broader vision of sustainable and self-sufficient development.
