PM’s Advisor Tarun Kapoor reviews Coal India’s production, supply performance

New Delhi: Advisor to the Prime Minister Tarun Kapoor chaired a review meeting of Coal India Limited (CIL) at the company’s corporate office in Kolkata, focusing on coal production and supply performance, diversification initiatives and measures to meet the country’s energy requirements.

During the meeting, Kapoor reviewed measures being undertaken to augment coal supplies to thermal power plants and assessed the progress of coal gasification initiatives.

Coal India has produced more than 310 million tonnes (MT) of coal and supplied over 371 MT so far in the current fiscal. Of the total supplies, more than 291 MT has been supplied to the power sector.

The review also covered the company’s diversification initiatives and other measures aimed at strengthening coal availability and supporting the country’s energy security.

The meeting comes as Coal India continues to focus on maintaining coal supplies to the power sector while advancing initiatives for diversification and coal gasification.
