New Delhi: Power Grid Corporation of India Limited (PGCIL) has approved an investment of Rs 856.94 crore for the reconductoring of two 400 kV transmission lines in Tamil Nadu as part of its network strengthening and capacity enhancement initiatives.

In a regulatory filing, the state-owned power transmission company said its Committee of Directors on Investment on Projects, at a meeting held on August 5, accorded investment approval for the project titled "Reconductoring of Tirunelveli–Udumalpet and Pugalur–Madurai 400 kV double-circuit lines with HTLS conductor."

The project will be executed under the company's Additional Capital Expenditure programme at an estimated cost of Rs 856.94 crore. According to the filing, the project is scheduled to be commissioned within 24 months from the date of allocation, with the targeted completion date set as February 11, 2028.
