

New Delhi: Power Grid Corporation of India Limited (PGCIL) has approved an investment of Rs 705.30 crore for the procurement of cold spare transformers and reactors, as part of strengthening grid reliability and operational preparedness.

The approval was accorded by the company’s Board of Directors at its meeting held on Thursday. The project, titled “Procurement of cold spare Transformers & Reactors approved in 77th NRPC,” is scheduled to be implemented within 30 months from the date of investment approval.
The initiative aims to enhance the resilience of the transmission network by ensuring the availability of critical spare equipment, thereby minimizing downtime in case of contingencies. Cold spare transformers and reactors play a vital role in maintaining uninterrupted power supply and improving response time during equipment failures.
