Gurugram: Power Grid Corporation of India Ltd (PGCIL) wrapped up two-day-long international conference, GRIDCON 2023, in Gurugram on Friday. The conference was themed around global transmission asset management practices and was an invite-only conference that was attended by at least 300 delegates from various countries and state transmission utilities across India. Key international experts and industry leaders from countries like Japan, Netherlands, South Africa, Canada, Germany, USA, UK, Portugal, South Africa, Uganda and Nepal, among others, were part of crucial panel discussions on issues pertaining to operation and maintenance of power transmission networks that took place over the course of two days.

The conference comes two months after the Ministry of Power released a plan for putting in place the transmission network required for the evacuation of green energy from 500 GW of renewable energy projects by 2030.

A Power Grid spokesperson said that GRIDCON has in the past served as a great platform for knowledge sharing and exchange of best practices on the operation and maintenance of transmission lines and has helped the PSU in improving its own services manifold. “The government’s decision to put in place power evacuation infrastructure for 500 GW of RE by 2030 marks the next phase of evolution for Power Grid and this conference is an excellent platform to absorb the best O&M practices for asset management from global leaders in the sector,” the spokesperson added.
