Power Grid meets 50% energy needs through green power, marks major ESG milestone

New Delhi: State-owned Power Grid Corporation of India Limited (PGCIL) has achieved a key sustainability milestone by meeting 50 percent of its total energy consumption through green energy sources, the company said in a regulatory filing on Thursday .

The achievement aligns with Power Grid’s Environmental, Social and Governance (ESG) goals and reflects its growing focus on clean and renewable energy adoption. The company said the target was met through multiple initiatives, including rooftop solar installations and solar photovoltaic (PV) plants, such as the one at Nagda .

Power Grid’s transmission infrastructure and installations are spread across the country, and achieving the green energy target across all locations marks a significant operational and sustainability milestone for the central public sector enterprise, the filing said.
