

New Delhi: State-owned transmission utility Power Grid Corporation of India Limited (PGCIL) has emerged as the successful bidder under the Tariff Based Competitive Bidding (TBCB) process for developing an inter-state transmission system (ISTS) project aimed at supporting upcoming green hydrogen and green ammonia projects in Andhra Pradesh.

In a regulatory filing to the stock exchnages on Friday, Power Grid said it has received a Letter of Intent (LoI) on June 12, for the project titled “Transmission System for Proposed Green Hydrogen/Green Ammonia Projects in Kakinada Area (Phase-I).” The project will be implemented on a build, own, operate and transfer (BOOT) basis.

The transmission project is designed to facilitate evacuation of power and strengthen grid infrastructure for the proposed green hydrogen and green ammonia developments in the Kakinada region of Andhra Pradesh.
According to the filing, the project includes the establishment of a new 765/400 kV Gas Insulated Substation (GIS) along with a STATCOM system and associated 765 kV transmission line works in Andhra Pradesh.
