New Delhi: Power Grid Corporation of India Limited (Power Grid), a Maharatna Central Public Sector Enterprise under the Ministry of Power, has been declared the successful bidder for two critical inter-state transmission system (ISTS) projects through Tariff-Based Competitive Bidding (TBCB). These projects will be established on a Build, Own, Operate, and Transfer (BOOT) basis.

The projects aim to augment the transformation capacity at key under-construction substations in Gujarat and Karnataka, enhancing the region's transmission infrastructure. The details are as follows:

Augmentation of Transformation Capacity at KPS1 and KPS2 (Phase-V, Part B1 and B2): This project involves capacity enhancement at under-construction Gas-Insulated Substations (GIS) in Gujarat, reflecting a commitment to bolstering the state’s energy infrastructure.

Augmentation of Transformation Capacity at Bidar Power Station: The scope includes the installation of three 500 MVA 400/220 kV ICTs (6th–8th) and one 1500 MVA 765/400 kV ICT (4th) at the Bidar substation in Karnataka.

Power Grid received the Letters of Intent (LoIs) for these projects on January 6, 2025, signaling the commencement of its responsibilities under the TBCB framework. These initiatives are expected to strengthen the transmission network, ensuring reliable power delivery across the connected regions.
