Addressing the occasion, Joshi said SECI had evolved into an important institution in implementing the government's renewable energy goals, with responsibilities extending beyond solar power to renewable energy procurement, energy storage, project development and power trading.
He highlighted SECI's expanding role in battery energy storage, green hydrogen, floating solar, rooftop solar and other clean energy solutions, calling on the company to strengthen coordination with state governments, power distribution companies (DISCOMs) and transmission agencies to support India's renewable energy expansion.
Established in 2011 to facilitate the National Solar Mission, SECI has expanded its operations to cover multiple segments of the renewable energy value chain. The company plays a role in connecting renewable energy generation with the power procurement requirements of entities across the country.
The inauguration of the new corporate office comes as SECI completes 15 years of operations and takes on broader responsibilities in implementing India's renewable energy programmes.
