New Delhi: NTPC Kanti has launched the Girl Empowerment Mission (GEM)-2023, a four-week residential workshop program for 40 underprivileged rural girls from Kanti block as part of its CSR initiative.
This is the first time NTPC Kanti is organising the GEM program. Eight students have been selected from five schools in Kanti Block. During their stay, the participants will receive academic training and development skill sets such as soft skills, life skill training, sports, meditation, yoga, self-defence, computer application, communication skills, and other extra-curricular activities.
The program was inaugurated by DSGSS Babji, Regional Executive Director, East - I NTPC Ltd, and K.M.K Prusty, Head of Project, NTPC Kanti.
The workshop aims to prepare the girl students to become well-rounded individuals, instil curiosity, and develop better communication and social skills.
Speaking at the inauguration ceremony, DSGSS Babji, Regional Executive Director (East-I), NTPC said “NTPC Kanti is going to start a girl empowerment campaign for 40 girls from nearby villages for the next four weeks from today. In the campaign, not only books will be taught to them, but all those things will be taught which will help them to become empowered. As we all know, NTPC is always ready for the development of Kanti, in the same way, it will be ready for the complete safety and responsibility of the girl child. I am thankful to the teachers, parents and headmaster for their help"
KM Prustyi, Project Head, NTPC Kanti, who was present on the occasion, said that “This campaign will bring a change not only in the lives of the girls but also in their families and in the entire society. After 30 days, when these girls leave from here, their confidence and enthusiasm will be all-time high."
