New Delhi: State-owned REC Limited has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Central Power Research Institute (CPRI) to strengthen quality testing and assurance mechanisms for materials deployed under the Revamped Distribution Sector Scheme (RDSS).

The MoU was signed at REC's corporate office in Gurugram on Tuesday by Yogendra Singh, General Manager and Head of PMD Quality, REC, and MG Anandakumar, Joint Director (Business Development & CBS Division) of CPRI.

The signing ceremony was attended by Prince Dhawan (IAS) Executive Director (PMD) of REC, Dr Neha Adhikari, Joint Director, CPRI, along with senior officials from both organisations.

Under the agreement, REC and CPRI will collaborate on third-party quality testing of materials used in RDSS projects, provide technical support, undertake capacity-building initiatives and develop robust quality assurance frameworks.

The collaboration is aimed at ensuring that materials deployed under RDSS conform to prescribed quality standards, thereby enhancing the operational reliability and performance of electricity distribution networks across the country.

REC, a Maharatna public sector enterprise under the Ministry of Power, is the nodal agency for implementing key power sector programmes, including the RDSS, which seeks to improve the operational efficiency and financial sustainability of power distribution utilities.
