New Delhi: REC Limited, a Maharatna Central Public Sector Enterprise under the Ministry of Power, has announced the incorporation of three new wholly owned subsidiary companies to support critical intra-state transmission infrastructure in Karnataka. These entities—Hampapura Power Transmission Limited, Sharavathi Power Transmission Limited, and Ryapte Power Transmission Limited—have been set up under REC Power Development and Consultancy Limited (RECPDCL), a wholly owned subsidiary of REC.
The new subsidiaries have been incorporated to facilitate the development of key transmission projects that are crucial for strengthening Karnataka’s power evacuation and distribution network.
According to company's regulatory filing to stock exchanges on Wednesday, these incorporations follow an order dated March 4, 2025, from the Energy Department of the Government of Karnataka, which allocated three intra-state transmission projects to RECPDCL. The organization has been designated as the Bid Process Coordinator (BPC) for selecting Transmission Service Providers through Tariff Based Competitive Bidding (TBCB).
The three projects are:
1. Hampapura Power Transmission Limited – Incorporated on May 20, 2025, for the development of a 400 kV substation at Hampapura in Mandya district along with associated transmission lines.
2. Sharavathi Power Transmission Limited – Also incorporated on May 20, 2025, to execute the evacuation scheme for the proposed 2000 MW Pumped Storage Plant at Sharavathi.
3. Ryapte Power Transmission Limited – Incorporated on May 21, 2025, to implement the evacuation infrastructure for a 2000 MW solar park at Ryapte village in Tumkur district.
Each of these entities has an authorized and paid-up capital of Rs 5,00,000 and is currently fully owned by RECPDCL. They have not commenced operations yet and will ultimately be transferred to the selected bidders in line with the TBCB guidelines, including all related assets and liabilities.
The move aligns with REC’s ongoing efforts to boost infrastructure for renewable and conventional power evacuation, ensuring reliable transmission systems in growing energy markets like Karnataka. These developments also reflect RECPDCL’s expanding role in coordinating competitive bidding and project implementation across India.
