New Delhi: REC Power Development and Consultancy Limited (RECPDCL), a wholly owned subsidiary of REC Limited, has handed over the project-specific special purpose vehicle (SPV) for an interstate transmission system (ISTS) project: ‘Bellary Davanagere Power Transmission Limited’ to Power Grid Corporation of India Limited on February 12.
The project has been awarded under the tariff-based competitive bidding (TBCB) route, with Power Grid emerging as the successful bidder through a bidding process coordinated by RECPDCL, which acted as the bid process coordinator. The project will be developed on a Build, Own, Operate and Transfer (BOOT) basis.
The SPV handover ceremony was conducted by RECPDCL CEO Saurabh Rastogi to Power Grid’s Executive Director Pankaj Pandey in the presence of senior officials from RECPDCL, Power Grid and Central Transmission Utility of India Limited (CTUIL).
The transmission scheme includes augmentation of transformation capacity at Davanagere and Bellary pooling stations, along with the establishment of a second 400 kV double-circuit transmission line between Bellary and Davanagere spanning approximately 72 kilometres. The implementation period for the project has been set at 24 months.
The project is expected to strengthen transmission infrastructure in the region, support reliable power evacuation, and enhance grid stability in line with the country’s growing electricity demand and network expansion plans.
