The MoU was signed during the high-profile event ‘CEO-Connect: Dubai-India Economic Ties & Opportunities’ held in Mumbai, in the august presence of HH Sheikh Hamdan Bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Crown Prince of Dubai and Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Defence of the UAE, and Piyush Goyal, Minister of Commerce and Industry, Government of India. Also present at the ceremony were His Excellency Sultan Ahmed bin Sulayem, Group Chairman and CEO of DP World, and Rahul Mithal, Chairman and Managing Director of RITES Limited, along with other senior dignitaries from both countries.

This agreement is expected to deepen the economic and strategic partnership between India and the UAE, aligning with the broader goals of enhancing cross-border connectivity and strengthening global supply chains.

The partnership builds on the foundation laid by the Virtual Trade Corridor (VTC), a digital initiative launched in September 2024, and supported by MAITRI, a digital platform under development in collaboration with RITES. The VTC aims to simplify and streamline trade processes by integrating customs, logistics, and regulatory mechanisms into a unified digital system. Key strategic workshops held in India and the UAE since its launch have laid the groundwork for a proof-of-concept involving major ports like Nhava Sheva, Deendayal, and Jebel Ali.

Commenting on the partnership, Mithal said, “It is an alliance of like-minded entities, bringing together experience, expertise, and a rich legacy. By leveraging our collective strengths and resources, we are poised to create transformative synergies across key infrastructure projects, furthering our initiative to expand the footprints of ‘RITES Videsh’.”

Echoing the sentiment, Sulayem stated, “This partnership with RITES Limited marks a significant milestone in our journey towards enhancing trade and infrastructure development between India and the UAE. By leveraging the power of public-private collaboration and our combined expertise, we will bring innovation and efficiency to trade corridor development, creating diversified trade routes that build resilience and unlock opportunities for everyone.”
