Rourkela: Steel Authority of India's (SAIL) Rourkela Steel Plant (RSP) has been recommended for the continuation of the CE certification for the new plate mill. The re-certification was recommended by the team of auditors from Messers DNVGL (Det Norske Veritas – Bermanischer Lloyd) in the closing meeting of the re-certification audit held at ED (Works) conference hall recently. SAIL's Executive Director (Works) Gautam Banerjee, chaired the session. "The two-day recertification audit was conducted at RSP on September 3 & 4 by Lead Auditor, Ayon Nag, CPR Auditor, Manoj Kumar Panchal and Messers DNVGL Syed Qasim Ali," said a press release.
In his address in the concluding meeting, Banerjee thanked the auditors for their intensive two-day audit. He reiterated RSP's continued commitment towards fulfilling the requirements of the Construction Products Regulation (CPR) 305, 2011 and the EN 10025 specifications while dispatching CE marked plates to the European Union. He also thanked the auditors for their recommendation for Re-certification. SAIL's General Manager (Quality), Ashish Chakravorty coordinated the programme.
CE marking is mandatory to place any product legally in the European market. The new plate mill of RSP had got the approval for DNV-GL business assurance to produce CE mark plates in November 2016. The first consignment of CE marked plates produced from the new plate mill was dispatched to the European market in January 2017. With the recertification, the mill which is equipped with the cutting edge technology will continue to cater to the overseas orders from the niche European market.
