
New Delhi: Rail Vikas Nigam Limited (RVNL), a Miniratna Category-I Public Sector Enterprise under the Ministry of Railways, has secured a major contract worth Rs 90.65 crore from Southern Railway for the installation and augmentation of Video Surveillance Systems (VSS) across 484 stations.
The contract involves the provision of VSS at 441 D and E category stations, along with the augmentation of surveillance facilities at 43 stations in categories A1, A, B, and C. The project, awarded by a domestic entity, is scheduled to be completed within 18 months.
The initiative is aimed at enhancing passenger safety and security by deploying advanced surveillance infrastructure across the Southern Railway network. The work will be executed under the General Contract Conditions and falls within RVNL’s normal course of business.
The company has clarified that the promoter or promoter group has no interest in the awarding entity and that the contract does not fall under related party transactions.
RVNL disclosed the development in a regulatory filing to the stock exchanges on Wednesday.
With this contract, RVNL continues to strengthen its portfolio in railway infrastructure, which spans track doubling, electrification, signalling, and station redevelopment projects across India.
