

New Delhi: Rail Vikas Nigam Limited (RVNL) has received a Letter of Acceptance (LoA) from South Central Railway for a railway electrification upgrade project valued at approximately Rs 242.49 crore.

According to a regulatory filing, the contract pertains to the design, supply, erection, testing, and commissioning of overhead equipment (OHE) for upgrading the existing 1x25 kV traction system to a 2x25 kV AT feeding system. The project also includes feeder and earthing works in the Ongole (OGL) to Gudur (GDR) section of the Vijayawada Division, covering a total stretch of 154 route kilometers (RKM) or 462 track kilometers (TKM).
The project is to be executed within a period of 24 months and falls within the normal course of RVNL’s business operations. The contract has been awarded by a domestic entity and does not involve any related party transactions.

The upgrade to a 2x25 kV AT feeding system is expected to enhance the efficiency, reliability, and capacity of railway electrification infrastructure, supporting higher train speeds and improved energy efficiency on the route.
