Senior management reviews capacity expansion, digitalisation initiatives at Donimalai complex of NMDC

New Delhi/Hyderabad: The senior management of NMDC Limited has reviewed key initiatives related to capacity expansion, digitalisation and sustainable mining at its Donimalai Complex in Karnataka as part of its efforts to strengthen operational efficiency and achieve its long-term growth targets.

During a recent visit, NMDC's senior management assessed ongoing infrastructure development projects aimed at increasing production capacity to 10 million tonnes per annum (MTPA) at the Kumaraswamy Mine and 17 MTPA at the Donimalai Complex. The expansion forms a key component of the company's vision to become a 100 MTPA mining company.

The management also reviewed initiatives to utilise low-grade iron ore resources, including iron ore slimes, Banded Hematite Jasper (BHJ) and Banded Hematite Quartzite (BHQ), through beneficiation and scientific mineral processing. The move is aimed at improving mineral conservation, reducing waste generation and supporting sustainable mining practices.

In addition, management reviewed the newly implemented automated gate management system at the Kumaraswamy Mine, which enables real-time monitoring of iron ore dispatches and enhances transparency, operational efficiency and resource security.

NMDC's Chairman and Managing Director Amitava Mukherjee, along with functional directors, also inaugurated newly developed infrastructure facilities, including high-rise residential towers, underscoring the company's commitment to employee welfare and community development.

Speaking on the occasion, Mukherjee said NMDC aims to transform the Donimalai Complex into a model mining operation reflecting the highest standards of responsible mining, innovation and employee welfare while supporting India's growing steel industry through sustainable resource utilisation.
