SJVN signs EPC contract agreement for 382 MW Sunni Dam Hydro Project

SJVN Limited on Thursday signed a contract agreement for engineering, procurement & construction of civil & hydro-mechanical works of 382 MW Sunni Dam Hydro Electric Project

New Delhi: Clean energy PSU SJVN Limited on Thursday said that it has signed contract agreement for engineering, procurement & construction of civil & hydro-mechanical works of 382 MW Sunni Dam Hydro Electric Project. The contract agreement for Rs 1098 crores has been signed with Rithwik Projects Private Limited, Hyderabad in presence of SJVN Limited’s Chairman & Managing Director (CMD) Nand Lal Sharma on Thursday.

Sharma briefed that the letter of award for civil & hydro-mechanical works was issued on January 14, 2023. Today, contract agreement for the same has been executed after completion of all pre-requisites.

Sharma highlighted that the construction activities of various civil components of the project are going on full swing. Infrastructure development to facilitate timely execution of the project and mobilization of major contractor at project site is at full pace. This project is scheduled to be completed within 58 months i.e., by November 2027.

The contract agreement was signed by SJVN’s General Manager S K Bhargava and Rithwik Pvt. Ltd.’s Dy General Manager V Praveen. On this occasion, SJVN Limited’s Director (Personnel) Geeta Kapur, Director (Finance) AK Singh, Director (Electrical) Sushil Sharma and senior officials of SJVN & Rithwik Pvt. Ltd. were also present.

382 MW Sunni Dam Project is a run-of-the-river project situated in District Shimla and Mandi of Himachal Pradesh on river Satluj. Project will generate 1382 million units annually at the levelized tariff of Rs. 3.90 per unit and will contribute 1.1 million tons annually towards carbon emission reduction.

On commissioning, 13 percent of the electricity generated will be provided free of cost to Government of Himachal Pradesh including 1 percent for Local Area Development Fund. For the project life cycle of 40 years, this free power translates into benefits of Rs 2,803 crores to Himachal Pradesh. Development of the project will lead to community assets creation and infrastructure development. Project construction activities will result in direct and indirect employment opportunities to around 4000 persons. This will lead to overall socio-economic development of the state of Himachal Pradesh.
