NHPC pays final dividend of Rs 552.45 crore for FY19

New Delhi: NHPC Limited has paid a final dividend of Rs 552.45 crore to the government for the financial year 2018-19 on Friday, November 1, in New Delhi. NHPC Limited's Chairman and Managing Director (CMD) Balraj Joshi handed over the dividend cheque to Union Minister for Power & Renewable Energy RK Singh. Profit earned by the hydropower PSU in FY'19 is slightly lesser than the previous financial year.

Aniruddha Kumar, Joint Secretary (Hydro) at the Ministry of Power, Ratish Kumar, Director (Projects)-NHPC, Mahesh Kumar Mittal, Director (Finance) and Janardan Choudhary, Director (Technical) were also present at the occasion.

Total dividend of Rs 1078.98 Cr paid for FY'19

NHPC Limited had already paid an interim dividend of Rs 526.53 crore in the month of March an aggregating total dividend of Rs 1078.98 crore for the FY 2018-19. The government holds 73.11 percent of share paid-up capital of the company as of now, NHPC said in a press release issued on Saturday.

NHPC Limited's Board of Directors approved the final dividend at the rate of Rs. 0.75/- per Equity share (@ 7.50% of face value) in its 43rd Annual General Meeting, was held on September 23. An interim dividend of Rs. 0.71 per equity share for example 7.10% of the face value was approved by the Board of Directors of the company in its meeting held on 8th February 2019. Thus, the total dividend of Rs. 1.46/- per share has been paid for the FY 2018-19. Total dividend pay-out for the year 2018-19 including interim dividend is worked out to Rs 1466.58 crore, as against Rs 1436.31 crore for the year 2017-18. NHPC has seven about lakh shareholders.

NHPC earned a net profit of Rs 2630.55 crore for FY 2018-19 as against the previous year corresponding figure of Rs. 2769.03 crore
