New Delhi: NHPC Limited has set an example of harmony amid lockdown to fight Coronavirus (COVID-19) by arranging food, medical check-up facilities and medicines for hundreds of Nepalese citizens stranded in Dharchula, District-Pithoragarh (Uttarakhand) due to sealing of Indo-Nepal international border. NHPC's Dhauliganga Power Station located near Dharchula has arranged all three daily meals for the stranded Nepalese nationals at Dharchula stadium and relief camps set up at Nigalpani from April 3.

During this, NHPC doctors have also conducted health check-up and provided free medicines. NHPC management has deputed its employees to ensure timely supply of food and other basic needs to all the stranded Nepalese citizens, which include children, women and elderly people. Problems of each person are being addressed immediately.

Earlier, in a meeting with NHPC Limited, the District Magistrate, Pithoragarh desired all possible cooperation from NHPC in helping the Nepali citizens stranded in Dharchula. Accordingly, the NHPC management took immediate cognizance and hundreds of Nepali citizens were sent to relief camps by NHPC buses and from April 3, food and medical assistance are being provided in Dharchula Stadium and Nigalpani camps. The Nepali citizens have praised NHPC management and expressed their gratitude to NHPC for this humanitarian assistance in this moment of crisis.

NHPC management has already instructed all its power stations, projects and regional offices to provide all possible help and quarantine facilities for the people of respective areas.
