Non-contact warfare will be our advantage: Army Chief in ARTECH

Inaugurating the Army Technology Seminar ARTECH 2019 Army Chief General Bipin Rawat said that India will win the future wars with its indigenous systems
New Delhi: ARTECH is barely 5 years old and it has started showing the serious potentials and scientific capabilities the army personnel are equipped with. Imagine developing a system that immobilises engine if the driver is inebriated beyond the permissible limit, monitors seat belt, maintains the attention of the driver on road through a sensing camera, keeps away from drowsy driving and also has a tailboard sensor to prevent damages and now guess the price of the system. Its just Rs 10,320 before you run your thoughts to hundreds of thousands. This integrated vehicle system has been designed by Major T Kishore Kumar and his team. That's ARTECH. Army Chief General Bipin Rawat inaugurated the one day Army Technology Seminar ARTECH 2019 on Monday at Manekshaw Centre in New Delhi.

'Non-Contact Warfare is the advantage'

While addressing the seminar, Chief of the Army Staff highlighted that although the importance of troops and equipment on the ground continues to remain, the domain of Non-Contact Warfare is gaining relevance for the future wars and will help us in gaining the critical advantage. Chief of the Army Staff said that the Indian Army has been at the forefront of technology embrace wherein there is a need to look at the technology temper and build a culture of innovations. He also stressed on the need of dual-use technologies for the future. Towards this, the Indian Army has endeavoured to be more open towards the industry and has converted stringent military specifications for a number of its equipment into commercial grade specifications. Along with General Bipin Rawat, Principal Scientific Advisor to Government of India Prof K Vijay Raghavan, Vice Chief of Army Staff and soon to be the COAS Lieutenant General MM Naravane, President SIDM Jayant Patil too were present during the ARTECH. Mishra developed the level 4 bulletproof jacket that has been developed at the college of military engineering in Pune and can provide full-body protection against sniper rifle bullets. "We are the only third country in the world to have that ability", Maj Anoop Mishra said.
