New Delhi: National Research Development Corporation (NRDC), an enterprise under the Department of Scientific and Industrial Research, Ministry of Science and Technology, has signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) for transfer of technology, "A process for manufacturing of graphene from waste plastic", developed at Kumaun University Nainital (Uttarakhand).

The MoU for technology transfer has been signed amongst NRDC New Delhi, Kumaun University, Nainital, Hexorp Industries Private Limited Nainital and GB Pant National Institute of Himalayan Environment and Sustainable Development for NMHS-PMU Almora at Kumaun University.

The MoU was signed by NRDC's Chairman & Managing Director (CMD) Dr H Purushotham, Kumaun University's Professor Dr NG Shahoo, NHMS's Nodal Officer Kireet Kumar, and Hexorp Industries Private Limited's Managing Director Akshat Shah for transfer of technology.

The technology is based on the pyrolytic process in the presence of sophisticated organically modified nano-clays which leads to the formation of value-added products such as carbon nanomaterials, petrol, diesel and kerosene oil

Kumaun University has successfully developed the technology for converting waste plastic into Graphene and value-added fuel. The technology is based on the pyrolytic process in the presence of sophisticated organically modified nano-clays which leads to the formation of value-added products such as carbon nanomaterials, petrol, diesel and kerosene oil.
