New Delhi: NTPC Limited, a Maharatna PSU under the Ministry of Power and India's largest power generation company, has won CII-ITC Sustainability Award 2019. The award has been given to NTPC Limited for its outstanding accomplishment in corporate excellence category. Also, the company has received a commendation for significant achievement in the category of corporate social responsibility (CSR).

NTPC Limited always strives for sustainable development of the communities around its power stations. Its flagship CSR programme GEM (Girl Empowerment Mission), a four-week residential program has been institutionalised in the vicinity of its power stations for the benefit of school-going girls from underprivileged background to support their overall development.

NTPC has also initiated Contractors' Labour Information Management System (CLIMS) through which payment to contract labourers is paid on the last day of the month at project sites.

"CII-ITC Sustainability Awards" recognise and reward excellence in sustainability practices. It is considered to be the most credible platform for sustainability recognition in the country.

Recently, NTPC Limited has also been honoured with 'ATD Best Awards' by the Association for Talent Development (ATD), USA. NTPC Limited has bagged this award for the fourth time in a row for its human resource (HR) practices.

The present installed capacity of NTPC Limited is 62,110 MW (including 11,755 MW through JVs and subsidiaries), comprising of 70 NTPC stations (24 coal-based stations, 7 combined cycle gas and liquid fuel based stations, 2 hydro based station, 1 wind-based station), 25 Joint Venture stations (9 coal-based and 4 gas based) and 12 renewable energy projects.
