ONGC fire accident: CNG supply in Mumbai, Thane restored

Mumbai: Mahanagar Gas Limited (MGL) said on Wednesday that CNG supply to pumps in Mumbai, Thane and Navi Mumbai has been restored. The supply was disrupted by the massive fire that engulfed ONGC plant in Uran on Tuesday morning, as was reported by PSU Watch.

Fire had adversely impacted transport

The fire had adversely impacted public transport, taking more than 40 percent autos off roads and an equal number of kaali-peeli taxis. The cut in fuel supply had also impacted buses, app-based cabs and private cars which run on CNG.

Situation gets back to normal

"The services were gradually restored by Tuesday evening as the supply restarted from ONGC to the Mahanagar Gas Limited's City Gate station at Wadala. On Wednesday morning, the situation got completely back to normal and all pumps are getting sufficient supply," an official said. While Tuesday saw long queues at CNG pumps, the situation got back to normal on Wednesday. Sources in auto unions said that the queues were comparatively smaller on Wednesday.
