New Delhi: Pushp Kumar Joshi is set to be the next Chairman & Managing Director (CMD) of Hindustan Petroleum Corporation Limited (HPCL), a Maharatna PSU under the Ministry of Petroleum & Natural Gas (MoPNG). He has been recommended for the post by the Public Enterprises Selection Board (PESB) panel on Monday. Joshi is currently serving as Director (Human Resources) in the same Maharatna PSU. Currently, Mukesh Kumar Surana is serving as CMD of HPCL but he is set to superannuate on May 1.
Joshi has been recommended for the post of CMD of HPCL from a list of 10 candidates, who were interviewed by the PESB panel in its selection meeting held on Monday. Out of 10 candidates, five candidates, who were on the list, were from HPCL and one each from Mangalore Refineries & Petrochemicals Limited (MRPL), Indian Oil Corporation Limited (IOCL), Madras Fertilizers Limited (MFL), NMDC Limited and Indian Railways Service of Electrical Engineering (IRSME).
Joshi is a Doctorate in Human Resource Management, Post Graduate in Human Resource Management from XLRI, Jamshedpur and Bachelor of Law from Andhra University. He has been serving as Director (HR) since August 1, 2012. Prior to this, he was holding key portfolios in Human Resources functions viz. Executive Director – HRD and Head – HR of Marketing Division.
Joshi has spearheaded human resource practices at HPCL with a strong business focus and contemporary approaches for leadership development, capability building and productivity enhancement by leveraging technology. He helped in the development and shaping of the company's culture and values aligned to the vision and provided support to the business and finance functions in the critical area of human resources.
As CMD of HPCL, Joshi will be Chief Executive of the corporation and will be accountable to the Board of Directors and Government. He will also be responsible for the efficient functioning of the company for achieving its corporate objectives and performance parameters.
