New Delhi: Now that's how the socially responsible public sector enterprises work. You must have heard about many large corporations giving free vaccination to their employees. But then there are PSUs, with the primary intention of empowering society at large. Vaccinating not just for the employee, but for their immediate family as well. Safeguarding them fully. Take the example of Power Grid Corporation of India Limited (PGCIL). Power Grid has been organising a number of vaccination drives across the country for its employees and their families to safeguard them from the COVID-19 pandemic. Vaccination camps are being organised in all the establishments of the Maharatna power PSU.

A vaccination camp was organised at Southern Region-II, Regional Headquarters, Bengaluru for the benefit of employees, dependent/non-dependent family members of RHQ, Yelahanka Sub-station, Bidadi Sub-station, Somanhalli Sub-station, Tumkur Sub-station, along with AMC, Security personnel, Drivers, Canteen & Transit Camp personnel.

About 110 employees, dependent family members and contract workers of POSOCO and SRPC were part of the camp organised in association with Manipal Hospitals, Bengaluru wherein about 250 doses of the vaccine were administered.

Northern Region – II of Power Grid also organised five vaccination drives for employees, their dependents extended family and contractual workers, superannuated employees and their families at various sub-stations including Jalandhar, Moga, Hamirpur and Wagoora. A vaccination drive was also conducted for approximately 100 nos. of contract workers at RHQ Jammu.

35 COVID care facility beds with oxygen support have been set up. An isolation centre with a 24×7 nurse care facility and an immunologist is available for round the clock consultation and personal visit to employees and dependents.

In order to sensitise employees, family members and support staff regarding the importance of social distancing, masks, hand hygiene, posters depicting COVID-19 appropriate behaviour have been placed at Main Gate, parking area, lift area and reception of RHQ Jammu along with Main Gate, Transit Camps and Community Centre of Power Grid residential complex.

These small initiatives have helped in effectively managing the ailing and providing them with the best possible care.
