Power Minister inaugurates ‘Powergrid Vishram Sadan’

Patna: 'Powergrid Vishram Sadan' was inaugurated by Union Minister of State (I/c) for Power, New & Renewable Energy and Skill Development and Entrepreneurship RK Singh. Bihar’s Energy Minister Bijendra Prasad Yadav and Health Minister Mangal Pandey were also present at the event.

After inaugurating the 'Vishram Sadan' 10 advanced life support ambulances were flagged off by RK Singh, which are being given under the CSR effort by POWERGRID and will be distributed by the State Health Society in various districts of Bihar. It is worth mentioning that the foundation of this welfare project of Powergrid Vishram Sadan was laid by RK Singh on April 13, 2018, and in just 18 months (one and a half years) POWERGRID completed the construction of Vishram Sadan.

Addressing the audience on this occasion, RK Singh appreciated the noble effort of Powergrid and said, “Poor people from different far-flung areas of Bihar will be benefited from this Powergrid Vishram Sadan.” He also talked about the strong power scenario in the country and commendable efforts made by the government to provide affordable power to all.

The Powergrid Vishram Sadan has been built in an area of 5,420 square meters, with a capacity of 256 beds and has been built at a cost of about Rs 15 crores. The 5-floor building consists of Reception, Dining Hall, Cafeteria, Kitchen, Common Room, etc. All rooms of the Vishram Sadan will be equipped with balcony and beds, mattress and furniture etc.

The dignitaries present on this occasion acknowledged the time-bound execution of the project and congratulated Powergrid. About 3000 patients are treated daily at Indira Gandhi Institute of Medical Sciences ( IGIMS), with whom their families come for support and care. WithPowergrid Vishram Sadan, the patients and their families coming from remote districts, villages and districts of Bihar shall get access to accommodation arrangements for their stay.

Powergrid Vishram Sadan at AIIMS, New Delhi and KGMU, Lucknow, are exemplary models of Vishram Sadan built by the company for the benefit of the masses. Such Vishram Sadans are also being constructed by Powergrid at DMCH Darbhanga, RIMS Ranchi, Vadodara, Bengaluru and Guwahati.

It is also pertinent to mention that Powergrid is also involved in various CSR works in various district of Bihar like comprehensive rural development work i.e construction of PCC road and community centres in various villages of Bhojpur District, Distribution of motorised tricycle in Sitamarhi, installation of 300 LED street lights in Purnea, installation of water ATM in Nalanda and Rajgir and installation of Namma Toilet across the state. POWERGRID has played an important role in the field of rural development, education, healthcare, skill development, environment, drinking water, water conservation and sanitation by contributing to economic and social development all over India with its CSR initiatives costing around Rs. 1000 crores.
