New Delhi: The Ministry of Power's Secretary Sanjiv Nandan Sahai visited NHPC Limited's 690-MW 'Salal Power Station' located in Jammu & Kashmir on October 28. He was accompanied by Ministry of Power's Joint Secretary (Hydro) Tanmay Kumar, NHPC Limited's Chairman & Managing Director (CMD) AK Singh, Union Territory of Jammu & Kashmir's Principal Secretary (PDD) Rohit Kansal and NHPC Limited's Chief General Manager (Regional Office Jammu) Rajan Kumar during his visit to the power station.

The visiting dignitaries were welcomed by Salal Power Station's General Manager (In-Charge) Nanhe Ram and other senior officers from NHPC, CISF and Civil Administration at Ramleela Ground of Jyotipuram. This was followed by Guard of Honour by CISF.

Secretary Sahai, Jt. Secretary Kumar and CMD NHPC Singh visited various components of the power station including the powerhouse. During his visit, Sahai inaugurated 'Renovated Units of Salal Power House.' The visiting dignitaries were apprised of the operation and maintenance activities of the power station by General Manager (In-Charge) of Salal Power Station through PowerPoint presentation.

Speaking on the occasion, Sahai appreciated the initiatives taken by Salal Power Station for improving the performance of the power station and expressed happiness to visit one of NHPC's prestigious power stations. He emphasised for time-bound delivery of the hydro projects and said that the government has already taken initiatives for promoting hydro projects through new hydro policy in March 2019. He further called for undertaking the development of pump storage schemes by NHPC for ensuring grid stability taking into consideration the high penetration of renewable energy in the Indian grid.

NHPC's CMD expressed his gratitude to the Secretary for taking time off his busy schedule and visiting the Salal Power Station which reflected the due importance being given to hydropower projects by the government.
