New Delhi: While lauding the efforts made by the oil and gas sector in the fight against COVID pandemic, Union Petroleum and Natural Gas Minister Dharmendra Pradhan urged PSUs in the sector to continue 'Annadaan' and other initiatives to help the poor and the needy. After a meeting with the heads of both public and private CGD (City Gas Distribution) entities on Thursday, Pradhan said on Twitter, "The oil and gas sector apart from fuelling the country has gone beyond the call of duty to help the underprivileged. Urged everyone to continue with 'Annadaan' and other initiatives to help the needy. Also, instructed them to empathise and take care of all employees."
"Thank Hon. PM @narendramodi ji for appreciating SAIL's efforts to popularise @SetuAarogya. Our PSUs are taking all efforts to contribute to India's fight against #Covid19 by maintaining essential supplies, providing food to the needy, enhancing awareness and many such initiatives," the minister said in a tweet.
During the meeting with the heads of public and private CGD entities, Pradhan took stock of the on-the-ground situation, urged these companies to maintain uninterrupted supplies of PNG and CNG to households and essential services and also reviewed adherence to safety and lockdown guidelines at workplaces. "Uninterrupted supplies of PNG & CNG to households and services crucial to the ongoing response to Covid-19 will further strengthen India's fight against the disease. Urged colleagues to use face covers, maintain #SocialDistancing and hygiene to minimise risk of infection at work," he said.
He also congratulated the CGD companies for ensuring an uninterrupted supply of the fuel to consumers at a time when the entire country is under a lockdown.
