PRCI organises seminar on cinema for RSP employees

A seminar on “Cinema as a Medium of Communication,” was organised by Public Relation Council of India, for RSP employees in Rourkela

Rourkela: A seminar on “Cinema as a Medium of Communication,” was organised by Public Relation Council of India (PRCI), Rourkela Chapter at Rourkela Club on 4th December. Mr Ramendra Kumar, GM (PR) and COC, Rourkela Steel Plant (RSP), and Chairperson, PRCI presided over the function.  The guest of the evening was Dr Piyush Roy, an internationally acclaimed critic, columnist, author, curator and filmmaker.

One of the highlights of the event was screening of a film “Pleasures, Prejudice Pride : An Indian way of Film Making,” made by Dr. Roy. Glimpses of another film being made by Dr Roy on the Jagannath Consciousness were also showcased.

This was followed by an enriching and interesting conversation between Mr. Ramendra Kumar and Dr. Piyush Roy.  The conversation beautifully brought out the transition in Indian Cinema, from the way social and political issues have been addressed over a period of time to depiction of Indian art, culture and tradition. The richness of Indian cinema with its flavour comprising emotions, expressions, sentiments, tradition, culture, fashion, tastes, festivals, dances, songs etc was also explained explicitly. The conversation was interspersed by on the spot quizzes that kept the audience engaged.

After the conversation the house was opened for discussion in which the audience interacted enthusiastically and asked questions about the various facets of Indian Cinema. At the outset Ms. Shaheen Sheikh welcomed the gathering, while Ms Pratima Sahu introduced the speakers. Dr. Anjana Moitra, proposed a formal vote of thanks, while Ms. Archana Satpathy coordinated the event.
